HOUSE 13 How to Beat The Nester

Wardrobes, claimed rooms, and the strobe that is not the same as Hitcher lighting.

Seal Closet Nests

The Nester is HOUSE 13’s closet threat. The badge is a two-stage instruction: “Close the closet while it’s inside. Once it claims a room, stay out of that room or rapidly flash your light at it.” This page is how to beat The Nester without turning every bedroom into a grave. It is B-tier on the threat ranking because it is local — until you hide in the claimed room during a knock.

What The Nester looks like

Official art is a wooden wardrobe cracked open, a long-clawed figure with lamp eyes leaning into the bedroom. That is the first stage: it is in the closet. Your job is to shut the door on it. Leaving wardrobes ajar “to check later” is how stage one fails. Check now. Shut now. Then leave the room.

Stage two is a claimed room. The Nester owns that volume. You do not use it as a hiding spot. You do not AFK in it. You stay out, or you strobe your light at the entity if you must contest the space. Strobe is not “stand in a lit hall.” Strobe is a rapid flash aimed at the Nester. The Hitcher wants you to remain in illumination. Do not mix the two rules when you are scared.

The winning habit

On the night loop, closets are step four. That does not mean skip them. It means door and windows and lights come first so you are still alive to shut wardrobes. Sweep closets on a fixed circle. Touch every wardrobe you passed. If it is open, close it. If you see the figure inside, close it immediately — that is the badge’s first sentence.

Mark claimed rooms in chat if you play co-op: “master bedroom claimed, do not hide.” A teammate who panics into that room during a Reacher call is a wipe. Thirty-two players can cover closets easily and still fail if nobody says the room name.

What not to do

  • Do not hide in a closet yourself. You are not playing hide-and-seek with a Nester. You are sealing it.
  • Do not open every wardrobe for loot. HOUSE 13 is not a dungeon crawler. Open, check, shut.
  • Do not strobe in a dark hall thinking you are also beating the Hitcher. Different entity, different light rule.
  • Do not wait for a closet ESP script. None are verified. Your eyes plus a circle route are the radar.

After a Nester death

Log closet or claimed-room, not “jumpscare.” If you died in a bedroom you knew was claimed, your panic routing is C-tier on the ranking. If you died because a wardrobe was open the whole Easy run, your loop skipped step four. Add the wing. Six nights is enough to memorize wardrobe counts in a given layout.

Beating The Nester is housekeeping. It is less cinematic than the porch and less urgent than a climbing Reacher, which is why it kills people who think they are good at the door. Do the boring shut. Then go back to identify Impostors for the next knock. HOUSE 13 is released and online. The wardrobe does not care that you almost had Survived Easy.
